Come one, come all to the greatest free show on earth! Everyone from Circleville, Ohio sure knows that phrase. It started back in 1903 when the mayor of the city had the farmers bring their goods to exhibit the agriculture of the county.  This year it was voted in USAToday as  the number one fall festival in our nation. Amazing for a small town like that competing with much larger cities.
Being from there myself I want to make as many pumpkin recipes  this month as I can so to start here are a couple.
This recipe below is from page 38 of this cook book from 1975.

Wow! Your posts just keep getting better! I love the layers of history you included. Circleville & Pumpkin Show are two of my favorite ways to be connected to the people I love most.
What a wonderful time of year in Circleville. There is magic in the air and the smell of pumpkin everything in the air. Sometimes at different times of the year in different places, I will smell things cooking outdoors and say “That smells like Pumpkin Show!” Great post, great recipes and great memories!
I love this, it’s the time of year I really get homesick for crisp air, walking in the fallen leaves, apples, any and everything pumpkin, my Mom’s vegetable soup, pumpkin burgers, friends and family. Josh called the other day, it had gotten cooler in Chicago and he was feeling homesick for all the same reasons. We are having a cold snap here in FL, only low 80’s today, woohoo! I’m so homesick!!! Keep the stories and recipes coming, love them all, love you!!!
